Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant is a high-profile, high-growth role and duties entail state and local income, franchise, and indirect tax reporting and compliance requirements. This position will provide senior-level expertise in ensuring accurate and timely filings, while contributing to process improvements as our client’s organization continues to evolve.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and e-file sales, use, gross receipts, business personal property, and business license returns; ensure all compliance deadlines, payments, and refunds are met.
• Maintain and update the tax calendar, register new accounts, manage resale and exemption certificate systems, and coordinate directly with state and local jurisdictions.
• Organize and respond to tax notices, support audits by gathering and maintaining documentation, and conduct research for use tax analysis and other tax inquiries.
• Develop and maintain high-quality schedules to support tax provision calculations and other reporting needs.
• Assist in developing, refining, and maintaining internal policies and procedures to streamline and enhance tax functions.

Requirements

• Public Accounting and/or Corporate Tax: 3+ years
• State and Local Tax: 2 – 3 years .
• Competence in tax compliance and state/local tax law research.
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks.
• Unwavering integrity and ethics and judgement according to GAAP.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools and financial software.
• Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate.
• Flexible and able to quickly adapt to new systems, unexpected events, and the changing needs of a growing business.
• Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Proficient in Adobe or PDF applications, MS Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel.
