Plant Controller
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plant Controller to join a growing manufacturing company in a hybrid work environment. This key leadership role will oversee general accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets, and financial reporting for manufacturing operations.
Reporting to the senior finance leader, the Plant Controller will collaborate closely with operations to manage costs, analyze variances, and improve manufacturing financial processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and supporting strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Oversee cost accounting functions to ensure accurate standard and actual costs, including variance analysis and cost build-up reviews.
- Manage month-end closing activities related to inventory, material costs, and margin analysis to support financial accuracy.
- Conduct inventory control and analysis by managing physical inventory counts, investigating discrepancies, and resolving variances.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting packages for leadership that provide insight into manufacturing costs, profitability, and operational efficiency.
- Perform production walks to understand manufacturing processes, identify variances, and interpret cost data accurately.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence analysis to streamline processes and enhance cost control.
- Manage annual planning processes including the preparation of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for operations in partnership with FP&A.
- Update and optimize ERP standard costs and perform inventory revaluation to reflect current operational realities.
- Assist in internal controls assessment and contribute to ongoing SOP improvements to ensure compliance with internal control frameworks.
- Support special projects and corporate requests related to manufacturing financial analysis and reporting.
- Supervise and guide the factory cost accounting team, fostering professional development and team collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a manufacturing Cost Accountant, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and manufacturing cost accounting principles.
- Proven experience managing cost accounting systems within an ERP environment.
- Solid understanding of standard costing, inventory management, and variance analysis.
- Extensive experience working across manufacturing plant operations and processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
