Accounting Manager with a Manufacturing Company.
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join an established food manufacturing company. In this role, you will serve as the key financial partner supporting the Corporate Controller. You will oversee financial accounting controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and contribute to operational efficiency across multiple plant sites.
Reporting directly to the Controller, this position offers the opportunity to influence financial strategies, enhance internal controls, and participate in ongoing process improvements within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and risks related to manufacturing operations and sales across multiple locations.
- Perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations to ensure liabilities are properly reflected and financial exposures are mitigated.
- Support treasury functions including cash management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable to improve payment processing and efficiency.
- Assist with collections and customer deductions to resolve short pays and deductions promptly.
- Collaborate with management to develop and monitor annual budgets covering production costs, overhead, marketing, and capital expenditures.
- Monitor budget performance and implement corrective actions based on variance analysis to optimize costs.
- Support cost accounting and inventory management by analyzing components of cost of sales and recommending strategies to minimize inventory carrying costs.
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and prepare reports for audits.
- Support external audits and partner with auditors to facilitate smooth financial reviews.
- Assist with tax reporting and compliance efforts in partnership with external tax teams.
- Manage entity-level compliance, including multi-state licensing and other regulatory filings.
- Contribute to risk management initiatives such as insurance renewals and compliance monitoring.
- Communicate financial insights clearly to senior leadership and operational teams to support decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align financial practices with operational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA or relevant certification highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or foodservice industries.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (including ASC 606 and ASC 842) and internal controls.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software; experience with MS Navision or Business Central is a plus.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and present actionable insights.
- Experience in a hybrid work environment is preferred.
