Accounting Manager with a FinTech Company.
 

Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supervising the Capital Accounting team, managing capitalized asset lifecycles (capitalization, depreciation, and disposal of capitalized software projects), preparing and reviewing financial reports, account analysis and reconciliations, and collaborating with internal and external auditors, project managers, and other teams to maintain financial integrity for capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Capital Accounting team to track and manage all capitalized assets, including process and qualification for capitalization, depreciation, retirements, and disposals.
  • Ensure timely depreciation of assets placed in production.
  • Prepare and review capital financial reports, project financial reports, and manage month-end close activities for capital accounts.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve accounting issues and report findings.
  • Discuss with finance partners and executive management status of projects and fluctuations in actuals.
  • Perform, review, and document in-depth analysis of capital accounts and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with financial accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant federal and state regulations and support internal and external audits related to capital expenditures and projects.
  • Support financial and audit reviews as requested.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking, recording, and reporting for all capital projects.
  • Coordinate, lead, and participate in meetings with team, business, and Finance counterparts.
  • Direct oversight and management of Capital Accounting team members.
  • Identify, research, and implement solutions to streamline financial processes and improve internal controls within capital accounting functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience including 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Significant experience with Capital Assets with a large publicly traded company.
  • Knowledge of Internally developed software accounting rules.
  • Experience in a fast-paced accounting department of a large public corporation.
  • Skilled in developing detailed documentation and communicating financial information and results.
  • Able to manage multiple team members, multiple work streams and competing deadlines.
  • Able to work independently on their assignments and collaborate with the team for the overall goals / responsibilities of the team and organization.
  • Experience with large ERP systems, Oracle preferred.
  • Understanding of GAAP rules for CAPEX vs OPEX projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
