Indirect Tax Senior with a privately-held Atlanta-based company that is the leader in its industry.
 

Summary

The Indirect Tax Senior will be responsible for assisting with the management of the Company’s indirect tax function, including Property Tax, Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Tax, and our Sales and Use Tax functions to ensure accurate reporting of such indirect taxes in multiple jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and ensure timely submission of the Company’s personal property, real property, and unclaimed property tax returns, maintaining full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the use of property tax software to manage complex data sets, generate reports, and support accurate and efficient tax filings.
  • Perform and review detailed reconciliations of property tax and unclaimed property filings with the general ledger and other supporting documentation.
  • Analyze, manage, and resolve tax notices related to sales and use, property, and unclaimed property taxes.
  • Manage the indirect tax audit process with third-party state auditors.
  • Assist with the preparation and filling of reverse sales and use tax audits and sales tax refunds including identifying refund opportunities, managing documentation, and ensure timely filing of claims.
  • Coordinate with tax authorities and third-party advisors to recover overpaid taxes and optimize tax positions.
  • Research, analysis, documentation, and response with respect to current indirect tax audits.
  • Develop and enhance the Company’s current indirect tax process, including the evaluation of current processes and procedures to determine enhancement opportunities.

Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or related, Masters in Tax preferred.
  • CPA or CPA eligible.
  • 2-5 years of prior public accounting experience or direct industry experience in sales and use tax, property tax, and/or abandoned and unclaimed property.
  • Experience preparing and filing sales and use tax, property tax, and/or abandoned and unclaimed property tax returns.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to exercise a degree of initiative, problem resolutions skills, and independent judgement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to structure and process qualitative or quantitative data and draw insightful conclusions from it.
  • Ability to identify and focus on key priorities.
