Senior Property Accountant

Senior Property Accountant with one of Atlanta’s leading diversified real estate companies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the daily accounting of assigned operating properties which includes but is not limited to the accuracy of balance sheets, income statements, general ledgers, accounts receivable, accounts payable, property utilities, expense accruals, budgeting, forecasting, revenue and expense variance analysis, fixed assets, depreciation, and amortization
• Maintain the accuracy and completeness of balance sheet reconciliations for each property
• Review all onsite closing reports received from assigned properties, complete the month-end checklist, and timely follow-up of open items
• Prepare JV cash flow reports and timeliness of distributions
• Prepare JV financial packets as required by partners/asset managers, and timely delivery of financial packages to partners
• Prepare timely debt payments and maintain accurate ledgers of debt and interest balances
• Responsible for the timely review and approval of all payables for assigned properties
• Assist Accounts Payable team to ensure timeliness and compliance with established corporate policies
• Participate and assist in audits
• Assist onsite associates in compiling and analyzing requested financial information to help the properties achieve the goals and objectives of the company
• Communicate effectively with the onsite General Manager, Regional Manager, and VP regarding financial statement analysis and variance explanations
• Prepare accurate property bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis
• Maintain organized accounting of closing reports, support, and file folder support

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Business, and/or Real Estate
• Minimum 3 years’ property accounting or real estate experience
• Understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting
• Experience in accounting applications such as Yardi, MRI, JDE, etc.
