Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant with one of the nation’s fastest growing private real estate investment and development companies.
 

Summary

The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for supporting corporate accounting functions and analyzing financial data for business operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, annual financial reports – prepare journal entries, financial statements and bank reconciliations.
• Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and intercompany balances.
• Review and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Support tax filings, including income, sales and property taxes.
• Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors to facilitate audits and tax return completion.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics to support strategic decision making.
• Review accounts receivable process – monitor cash receipts, review and bill tenant recurring charges and billing adjustments.
• Coordinate accounts payable process – review invoice coding and approvals; ensure proper audit trail is in place.
• Coordinate and prepare annual year-end expense reconciliation process.
• Assist in all audits including preparation of financial statements.
• Assist in submission of monthly requirements to lenders.
• Assist in cash flow analysis, ensure adequate project liquidity, process funding requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA progress is a plus.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in accounting, with a background in tax, audit, or real estate preferred.
