Senior Tax Specialist – Atlanta, GA

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Tax Specialist to support the preparation of income tax filings and assist with complex tax projects at a dynamic organization.

In this role, you will work closely with finance and accounting teams to ensure compliance with domestic and international tax requirements. Your expertise will contribute to accurate tax reporting and support audits, helping the company navigate evolving tax landscapes efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with workpaper preparation: Prepare documentation for U.S. and foreign income tax filings to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain tax balance sheets: Track tax-based balance sheet items and deferred tax assets and liabilities.
  • Calculate income tax estimates: Support tax calculations, accruals, and related entries for accurate financial reporting.
  • Support special tax projects: Participate in domestic and international tax initiatives, including research and reporting.
  • Respond to tax authorities: Communicate with tax agencies via written and verbal inquiries to resolve issues.
  • Support audits: Provide documentation and assistance during domestic and foreign income tax audits.
  • Analyze reports: Review and interpret existing and ad hoc reports related to tax activities.
  • Research tax topics: Conduct research on tax regulations and summarize findings for internal teams.
  • Maintain compliance calendars: Track filing deadlines and ensure timely submissions for all tax obligations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work with finance, accounting, and legal teams on tax-related matters.
  • Ensure adherence to standards: Follow GAAP, IFRS, and ASC 740 regulations for tax reporting.
  • Leverage technical systems: Utilize ERP systems, including SAP, for data entry and analysis.
  • Enhance process efficiencies: Identify opportunities to improve tax reporting workflows through automation or process development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience as a corporate tax accountant or analyst.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Proficiency in tax research, with experience in international tax topics.
  • Strong understanding of book-to-tax differences and M adjustments.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS standards, and ASC 740 tax provisions.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent prioritization skills and adherence to deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (including v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
