Construction Accountant

Staff or Senior Accountant with a $100m construction and property management company.

Responsibilities

• Assist Controller with preparation of accurate and timely financial statements for the construction and real estate development business
• Assist with preparation of supplemental financial reports as required or requested by senior management (includes general ledger maintenance, cash management, fixed assets and project accounting)
• Maintain and analyze project budgets, costs, and Work in Progress (WIP) reports to identify risks and overruns
• Work with the CFO to prepare checks for monthly construction company draw to subcontractors
• Perform the accounting for multiple apartment communities and land parcels
• Update job cost detail reports as required to provide actual results
• Prepare month-end journal entries and bank reconciliations
• Process accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely payments
• Maintain detailed Fixed Assets and Depreciation schedule

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university
• Masters degree or CPA a plus
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a construction environment
• Close proximity and commutable distance to office in Alpharetta, GA
