Staff Accountant – Manufacturing Company
Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a growing manufacturing organization in the Atlanta area. This role plays a key part in internal financial reporting, inventory costing, and month-end closing processes.
The successful candidate will partner with management and department leaders to ensure accurate financial data and compliance with internal controls. Reporting directly to the Finance Leader, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to operational insights and process improvements within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries and financial statements.
- Analyze inventory data to determine classifications and make adjustments for inventory and cost of goods sold.
- Maintain perpetual inventory system to ensure accuracy of stock levels and valuation.
- Generate reports on labor costs and shipments for management review and decision-making.
- Manage standard cost system updates and calculations to reflect current production costs.
- Conduct product line analysis to assist in financial evaluation and strategic planning.
- Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations and address discrepancies proactively.
- Record month-end journal entries to close accounting periods accurately.
- Respond to management inquiries regarding expenses, budgets, and financial data accuracy.
- Support external audits and compliance activities by providing requested financial information related to tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in general ledger accounting within manufacturing or automotive industries preferred.
- Strong technical skills in account reconciliation, cost analysis, and month-end close procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an on-site setting in the Atlanta area.
